Prenatal Chiropractic

If there is ever a time to seek chiropractic care, it is during your pregnancy. This 9-month period brings with it a lot of change. As a women’s body adjusts to accommodate a growing baby, a balanced spine and pelvis can make all the difference. A balanced spine makes for a smooth transition of your center of gravity, and a balanced pelvis allows for optimal baby positioning at the time of birth, and helps decrease the chance for dystocia (a difficult labor).

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can provide many benefits. Some of which include:

  • Controlling symptoms of nausea
  • Reduced labor and delivery time
  • Less neck, back, hip and/or joint pain
  • Relief of sciatica symptoms
  • Decreasing risk of cesarean delivery

The webster technique

Dr. Christelle is certified in the Webster Technique, which was developed by the late Larry Webster, D.C. Sacral subluxation can cause the pelvic muscles and ligaments to tighten and twist, which then constrains the uterus. The goal of the Webster technique is to reduce the effects of subluxation and the dysfunction of the sacroiliac joint. Put simply, by releasing the stress on a pregnant women’s pelvis, the uterus and surrounding ligaments are able to relax, giving the baby the room to grow and move as needed. When there is less tension in the uterus, there is a decrease risk of a breeched baby. The technique has helped chiropractors around the world help pregnant women, including many in our clinic.
